Strategy and market position
Strategically well positioned
With a transmission grid of some 11.000 km, Amprion owns and operates Germany's longest transmission grid.
Throughout the grid area we offer our customers uniform and competitive prices. Its central location makes the transmission grid of Amprion an important hub for power exchange in Germany and Europe. The increase in the number of balancing group contracts for the Amprion control area proves that competition is working.
Our know-how and expertise provide the basis for the wide-ranging cooperation in national and international expert committees where Amprion GmbH often takes the lead when it comes to introducing innovation. Regular surveys among our grid customers help us to continue perfecting the interface to customers, such as to the balancing group managers within the context of schedule management. Clear evidence of our internationally valued expertise is the decision of the two youngest UCTE members Bulgaria and Romania to join the UCTE Coordinating Center North as part of the international coordination of system interconnection. This function is performed by Transmission System Operation in Brauweiler. This gives Amprion GmbH an excellent position at the national and international levels.
